At the
age of eight years old I was thrown in the deep end of Barn Owl
conservation, raising a breeding pair, and spending the next decade
working in breed and release projects, education and promotion work.
As a previous manager of an Owl Centre, taking on the challenge
of getting the detail of all the feathers correct was daunting,
as I knew first hand how complex the arrangement of feathers is.
Many painstaking hours later I achieved the layered effect I was
looking for.
This
portrait comes double mounted in a granite/smooth white combination
(granite is similar to this webpages backdrop), I find this enhances
pencil work when framed.
You will
be supporting the work of Elephant Nature Foundation in buying this
portrait as I give 20% of profits from each print sold; run in Thailand
the foundation takes in elephants that have had very hard lives
and allow to get back to full fitness, before living out the rest
of their lives in dignity. They also run a mobile veterinary service.
For more details on all the work they do please follow the links
on the right hand side, the parks are also open to scheduled visits,
and even volunteer oppurtunities!
